Student-Run Business

Mentors and Interns

Make a difference in a young person's life.

Student business managers face tasks that push the limits of their skill sets and comfort zones. Our program relies on adults from our community to assist them as they work on projects as individuals and in small groups, overcoming barriers and gaining self confidence as they go. If you have business experience, or if you don't but are willing to learn, we need you.

Classroom Mentors

Build a relationship with a group of students as they learn from the business program and grow over the course of a school year. Our class meets from 12:30 until 2:30 on Friday afternoons between mid-August and mid-May.

Project Mentors

Perhaps you have skills to share but can't commit to a full school year. We need you! We will help match you with a project that students can accomplish in a timeframe that matches your availability. Teach a young marketing professional to design a web ad in Photoshop. Help our finance team understand how to read a balance sheet. Show the sales team manager how to inspire the student sellers. If you've got a skill, we can most likely put it to good use.

Student Interns

GEO has a successful volunteer internship program open to students at local colleges and universities. Work with the students in the classroom on Friday afternoons and help out with business tasks that they aren't able to finish. It's a great opportunity to get hands on, real life business experience. Meanwhile, your presence as a role model and the leadership you exhibit will be invaluable to the students.
